OurMart's Principal Mat Short, started learning graphic design in 1988 as a student on an OND course in Nottingham but realised that money in the hand was more enticing than learning from theorists - so he quit the course to start what became a multi-million pound book retail chain run by 'the family'.

Mat used his retail experience to help develop Stray's », a Newark-based espresso bar tagged "organic coffee to a jazz soundtrack" which is tied-in with the Stray's Bookshop, Sandwich Bar and forthcoming Jazz Club.

The Coffee Section of this website is currently being developed and will offer snippets of one of our passions: Great Coffee & great Jazz.

I love seeing the light switch on in someone's eye as they resonate with something I've just communicated to them. It's very rewarding and often, the start of something special...
